We already know that teenagers devote a lot of time online although the Pew Research Center has been learning more about some of them. 97% of US teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17 who engaged in the poll reported using the internet daily. Additionally, 46% reported using it "nearly daily," up from 24% in 2014 and 2015.

The new poll, conducted in April and May 2022, also discovered that TikTok is now the second most well-liked app among youths, with 67% claiming to use it, 95% claiming to use Youtube, a video-sharing website, and the most popular among teens. But times have changed, and according to Pew's 2014 and 2015 surveys, Facebook was the most widely used website among youths, with 71% of them reporting usage. But in the 2022 survey, that figure dropped to only 32%. Twitter has also lost some of its value; compared to seven years ago, when 33% of youngsters claimed to use it, only 23% do so today.

There are certain distinctions between how boys and girls use the internet. According to Pew, girls are more likely to use TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat while boys are more likely to use YouTube, Twitch, and Reddit. With 95% of teenagers reporting owning a smartphone and 90% having access to a computer, using these sites and applications has never been simpler for young people.
