According to scientists, the Himalayan region's glaciers might melt by up to two-thirds by 2100 as a result of climate change if climate goals are not met. But, even if the whole community succeeds in achieving all climate goals, approximately one-third of the Himalayas' glaciers are in danger of melting away. Hundreds of researchers worked on this report for five years.

It is concluded that global warming gets worse the higher the atmosphere you get. Therefore, by the turn of the next century, the Himalayas as the highest mountain range in the world might warm by over 4°C, a significant increase over the planet's average warming.

Glaciers provide electricity and clean water to around 250 million people in the Himalayan region and an additional 1.5 billion in nearby river valleys. The Ganges, Indus, and Mekong river plains may flood as a result of glaciers melting. Millions would lose their farming land as a result, and they would not be able to produce the crops they needed.

Climatologists have been observing the disappearance of the Himalayan glaciers since the 1970s, but this is the first time a warning has been given. Water shortages have recently affected India's cities. The country's population of almost 50% lacks access to enough clean water. As a result, over 200,000 individuals die from water-related diseases every year.
