A man in the US received close to $250,000 even though he doesn't work for Google. Sam Curry, a staff security engineer at Yuga Labs, posted a picture of the transaction on Twitter, displaying the amount of $249,999 that was paid to him. He claimed that despite his attempts to get in touch with Google, the corporation had not responded to him after three weeks. He also joked that it was okay if the company didn't want the money back.

Curry revealed to NPR that he occasionally works with businesses to identify software bugs, including Google. But even though he had previously worked for Google, he was baffled as to why the business would send him such a large sum of money. Curry opted not to spend any of the money because he assumed there must have been a mistake. He revealed to NPR that he was holding onto it in case Google requested it back.

Curry, though, stated that if Google didn't respond quickly enough, he would have to transfer the funds to another account to avoid paying taxes on them. A Google representative acknowledged that the transaction was a mistake and said the company was working to remedy it in a statement to NPR.
