On October 1, 2022, the opening day of a nine-day annual event that has been gathering pilots and spectators from around the world to the desert of New Mexico in the United States for 50 years, hundreds of hot air balloons took off. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, one of the world's most photographed, is taking place right now. For the city of Albuquerque's economy, it has grown into a crucial event. It also provides a wonderful opportunity for followers of the giant balloons to witness them before, during, and after their flights. 

The 50th celebration was attended by three of the pilots who took part in the inaugural fiesta in 1972 as well as their families. 13 balloons were launched from a parking lot of a mall that year. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, on the other hand, has subsequently expanded into a multimillion-dollar event that attracts tens of thousands of spectators. In 2022, more than 20 countries were represented, with hundreds of balloons coming from Switzerland, Australia, Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Taiwan, and Ukraine, among others.
