Read the dialogue below. 

Julia: Hi Tom, where are you from? 

Tom: Hi, Julia. I am from Thailand. How about you? 

Julia: I am from India. 

Tom: Wow. I wonder how many kinds of pollution are there in your country? 

Julia: There are many types of pollution: land, water, air, and thermal pollution. 

Tom: What type of pollution is popular in your country? 

Julia: The most popular one is air pollution because of too many automobiles on the road. 

Tom:   Do you own a car in your country? 

Julia: No, I don’t. How about in your country? 

Tom: The most popular one is water pollution, I guess. 

Julia: Have you ever littered? 

Tom:   Yes, I have, but when I was taught the lesson on protecting Mother Nature, I quit littering. 

Julia: What can you do to help prevent pollution? 

Tom: Reduce and reuse whatever I can to eliminate the amount of waste is what I can do to prevent pollution.

Julia: What does the government do to encourage people to protect the environment? 

Tom:  They organize some campaigns to raise the awareness of people. Everything should start with education.  

Julia: Are people in your country aware of the environmental issues? 

Tom:   Yes, they are. They care about what happens to the environment around them. 

Julia: Is there any law to force people to protect nature? 

Tom:   Yes. The environmental law stipulates punishments for people doing harm to the environment.
