People around the world love pancakes. You could imagine pancakes like those offered in America, warm with melted butter and maple syrup. But in reality, there are different kinds as a result. Pancakes in Russia are called Blinis and are popularly served with caviar and sour cream. There are many ways to prepare pancakes in China using wheat flour and boiling water. Pancakes are also available in France in the form of a thin crepe. There is also a pancake in India called the Gujarati pancake. It is wafer-thin, crispy, and filled with yogurt and spicy potatoes.

For the 350th anniversary of Springfield, Massachusetts, a celebration described as the "World's Largest Pancake Breakfast" was recreated in 1986. Since then, the breakfast has been held every year. Several hundred volunteers help with the event. Over 40,000 people received pancakes in 1999, totaling more than 71,233 servings.
