Verb + preposition (phrasal verb 2)

Sometimes a PHRASAL VERB (put on / turn on / turn off etc.) has an OBJECT.
For example:
Put on your coat. or
Put your coat on.
But it/them (pronoun) always go before on/off etc.:
Put it on (not put on it)
Here are some examples of common phrasal verbs with an OBJECT:
ON
I put on a sweater and a jacket. (I put them on quickly.)
She tried on fifteen dresses before she found one she liked. (She tried them on…)
Please turn on the radio so we can listen to it. (Turn the radio on or Turn it on)
OFF
We asked the boss to put off the meeting until tomorrow. (Please put the meeting off for another day.)
It was so hot that I had to take off my shirt.
We turned off the lights before anyone could see us.
UP
She filled up the grocery cart with lots of vegetables. (She filled it up with lots of vegetables.)
Those are my keys on the floor. Can you pick them up for me?
Grandma couldn’t hear, so he turned up her hearing aid. (= raise the volume)
DOWN
Your radio is driving me crazy! Please turn it down. (= lower the volume)

I stopped reading and put my book down.
BACK
You can take my umbrella, but please bring it back.
I took my new sweater back to the shop. It was too small for me.
I have got Ted’s keys. I have to give them back to her.
