Read the article below.

Which is worse: failing or never trying? All of us should ask ourselves this whenever facing a challenging situation. Never trying is worse than failing.  If you never try, then you will never know. This applies to every aspect of life including things ranging from sports to relationships to even school. Giving up before beginning is rooted in fear, and it is not healthy to live that way. In life, we must take chances, we must take chances even at the risk of failure.

Never trying is always worse than failing. If you fail at something, it becomes a life lesson you can apply to future situations. There are instances in our life where we never tried because of fear of failing. We might not regret it but we wonder what would have happened if we had taken that risk or chance.

Even though most people know that it is better to try and fail than to never try at all, they still refuse to take chances. According to an article written by knoji.com, “Generally, people give up because they feel that no matter how hard they try, they can’t get these simple things that drive every creature on earth, or that if they do get them, it wasn’t worth the effort.” I'm sure everyone has given up on something, whether it be big or small, just because they didn’t feel like doing it anymore. It is human nature to take the path of least effort. This is something that is programmed into our subconscious. This does not mean that we are all inherently lazy, but just that we have a limited amount of effort that we can put towards something. We automatically exert the minimum amount of effort possible in a given situation and once we reach our max, we cannot move past that. This is what leads to giving up in certain situations. Another thing that ties into giving up is learned helplessness. This means that after repeated failures of something, subjects tend to lose all hope and not try at all. In some cases, we must over self-doubt and risk it all anyways. To some, failure is not an option, but honestly, it is better to fail than to never try.
