After 146 years, "The Greatest Show on Earth" comes to an end. In the 1800s, two groups of performers merged to produce "The Greatest Show on Earth," a traveling circus. The first was a Phineas Taylor Barnum-popularized exhibition of exotic animals and remarkable abilities. The famed performing siblings, the Ringling brothers, performed juggling acts and comedy for the second group.

Between the mid-1800s and the mid-1900s, the circus reached its peak of popularity in the United States, inspiring children to dream of performing in it. It attracted crowds by performing animal acts with lions, tigers, camels, donkeys, kangaroos, and elephants, among other animals. However, as time went on, it lost some of its fame.

Three factors contributed to the circus' final closure. First, the audience has considerably decreased, which has led to financial issues for the show. The second reason is that the target audience, which is mainly children, has changing tastes. Last but not least, animal rights organizations have long condemned the circus for its treatment of animals, particularly the employment of elephants in the spectacle.
