After taking an economics exam, final-year students at a university in England are furious. University of Sheffield students have signed an adjuration claiming that the exam questions were "impossible" to answer. Almost all of the 100 exam-takers signed the online petition and voiced their complaints. They request an investigation from the institution. According to the students, the exam included questions on subjects outside of their study. They claim that many questions involved abstruse math that they weren't taught. According to one student, a professor indicated they would just require "basic" math.  They are now disquieted that their poor exam results will have an impact on what kind of degree they will take.

Professor Andy Dickerson, the department head for economics, told the BBC that the examination was fair.  Not all of the questions required math, he stated. According to him, the math in the assessments was at the same level as what was being taught to the students during the course. Every exam question, according to him, was related to a subject the students had studied. He noted that one question in the exam included terminology that students may not have encountered before. He said: "All questions were based on topics taught in the course and for which supplementary reading was provided." He said that since the questions defined the term, there was no ambiguity. The institution promised to thoroughly review the findings.
