Read the dialogue below. 

Julia: Hey, Tom. I wonder how many popular festivals are there in your country? 

Tom: Hi, Julia. There are many well-known festivals in our country such as Christmas, New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween, and so on. 

Julia: In your view, what is the most important festival in your country? 

Tom:  As far as I’m concerned, Christmas is the most important one since it is a chance for family reunions and parties. People gather together to celebrate the birth of Jesus. 

Julia: When does it take place? 

Tom: It is celebrated on December 25th. 

Julia: Where is Christmas celebrated? 

Tom: Christmas Day is celebrated all over our country. Each family has its own way to celebrate the day. 

Julia: What does your family do to prepare for Christmas? 

Tom: Before Christmas Day, we go shopping for gifts, food, and drinks. We also put up Christmas decorations such as Christmas lights and a Christmas tree in front of our house.  

Julia: Who can join the festival? 

Tom:   It’s a day for everybody. 

Julia: What do people do during the festival? 

Tom: On Christmas Day, people have a party with some sumptuous food and drinks. After that, they may visit friends or relatives to give and receive gifts and spend time with them. 

Julia: What is special about Christmas? 

Tom:    Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. It is celebrated by the majority of Christians. 

Julia: Is the festival culturally related? 

Tom: Sure, the festival is an integral part of our culture and religion.
