In today’s world, every parent is unique in his or her own sense. Every parent has his or her own unique method of raising and disciplining their children. Every parent’s parenting style is more influenced by how they were raised and parented than by how they were raised and parented by others.
Psychologists have identified three main parenting styles that parents with or without their knowledge may adopt to raise their children.
The authoritarian parenting style is used by a parent who believes that kids should be seen and not heard. When it comes to rules, they believe it’s “my way or the highway.” and they don’t take their child’s feelings into consideration. Authoritarian parents may use punishments instead of discipline. You are an authoritative parent if you put a lot of effort into creating and maintaining a positive relationship with your child. You explain the reasons behind your rules, and you enforce rules and give consequences, but take your child’s feelings into consideration. And finally, you may be a Permissive parent if you set rules but rarely enforce them. In addition, you don’t give out consequences very often and you think your child will learn best with little interference from you. Permissive parents usually take on more of a friend role than a parent role.
Every parent really needs to evaluate their expectations of their child. If they really do want their child to grow up to be respectful and a contributing aspect of their generation then they need to make sure their parenting style is the best fit.
