First conditional
הסבר באנגלית על First conditional, עם דוגמאות ו-5 שאלות תרגול לבדיקה עצמית. מתאים לרמה בינונית.
The first conditional is used to talk about real or possible events in the future. It is used to describe a cause-and-effect relationship between two things.
Structure:
If + Present Simple, will + base verb
Example:
If it rains tomorrow, I will stay at home.
Explanation:
In this sentence, the speaker is expressing a possible future event. The sentence has two clauses: the first clause contains the condition (if it rains tomorrow), and the second clause contains the result (I will stay at home). The condition clause uses the present simple tense, and the result clause uses the modal auxiliary verb that will be followed by the base verb.
The First Conditional can also be reversed, with the result clause coming before the condition clause:
Structure:
Will + base verb, if + Present Simple
Example:
I will stay at home if it rains tomorrow.
Explanation:
This sentence expresses the same idea as the previous example. The result clause uses will + base verb, and the condition clause uses if + Present Simple.
Usage:
The First Conditional is used to talk about real or possible events in the future, especially when the result is dependent on a certain condition being met. It is often used to make plans or predictions about the future, or to discuss hypothetical situations.
Example:
If I get the job, I will move to a new city.
If you study hard, you will pass the exam.
If he leaves now, he will arrive on time.
If it snows tomorrow, the roads will be slippery.
Note:
The First Conditional can also be used to talk about present or habitual actions, as long as they are dependent on a certain condition being met.
Example:
If she eats too much, she gets sick.
If I work out regularly, I feel more energized.
