Present Simple, Present Progressive, Present Perfect, and Present Perfect Continuous are different tenses used in the English language to talk about present events and states. In addition, the passive voice is used to describe actions being done to the subject instead of the subject doing the action.

Present Simple Passive Voice

The present simple passive voice is used to describe a situation where the subject is being acted upon by someone or something else.

The structure is "subject + am/is/are + past participle."

For example, "The book is read by John."

Present Progressive Passive Voice

The present progressive passive voice is used to describe an action that is currently happening to the subject by someone or something else.

The structure is "subject + am/is/are + being + past participle."

For example, "The cake is being baked by the chef."

Present Perfect Passive Voice

The present perfect passive voice is used to describe a past action that has a present impact on the subject.

The structure is "subject + have/has + been + past participle."

For example, "The house has been cleaned by the maid."

Present Perfect Continuous Passive Voice

The present perfect continuous passive voice is used to describe a continuous action that started in the past and has a present impact on the subject.

The structure is "subject + have/has been + being + past participle."

For example, "The car has been being repaired by the mechanic."

Usage

The passive voice is used when the emphasis is on the action rather than the doer of the action. It is often used in formal writing, such as academic papers or news articles.

Present simple, present progressive, present perfect, and present perfect continuous are used to describe present states or actions.

The present simple is used for habitual actions or states.

The present progressive is for actions that are currently happening.

The present perfect is for actions that started in the past and have a present impact.

The present perfect continuous is for actions that started in the past and are still ongoing.
