Following the hiatus caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns, people are now traveling overseas once more. Many people are traveling on their bucket list because of the money they saved while borders were closed. Some people are reluctant to reactivate their passports, though. 16,000 questionnaires from individuals in 15 countries were examined for a travel report on the Morning Consult website. According to the website, 16% of South Koreans, 14% of Chinese, and 14% of Americans "never want to travel again." The Japanese were the ones that disliked traveling the most. According to the report, roughly 35% of Japanese respondents said they would never want to leave Japan.
There are various reasons why Japanese travelers are hesitant to visit abroad. One is a fresh interest in discovering Japan's culinary and cultural wonders. During the pandemic, a lot of individuals traveled within Japan and rekindled their love for the country's breathtaking scenery and rich history. Other factors include expense and a desire to be environmentally friendly. A Kyoto tour guide said: "I've been consistently amazed at my clients' reactions to seeing the sights of this city. I've never known Japanese people to be so engrossed in their history and tradition." "Flying isn't sustainable in this climate crisis. I'd much rather travel locally and spend the airfare on nicer hotels, restaurants, and experiences in Japan," said Kai Ueno, a resident of Tokyo.
