Norway is using some of its wealth funds to help get rid of child labor around the world.

The country has cooperated with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and set aside approximately $1 trillion to help improve child labor legislation and practices around the world.

A number of major fashion brands, like H&M and Gucci's owner, Kering, have already pledged their support for the campaign. Plans for the collaboration include discussions about how to improve child labor and give education and health assistance to those affected.

As of 2016, there were around 152 million child laborers worldwide. Many of these are common in countries that aren't as well off or that have markets that are just starting to grow.

Child laborers are frequently subjected to appalling working circumstances, such as excessive hours and exposure to hazardous chemicals. Fashion sector workers frequently conduct perilous operations such as cutting, stitching, and dying garments.

Several groups have already tried to stop this from happening, but the many different steps in the supply chain make it hard to figure out which companies are doing it. Some fashion brands are unaware that their suppliers condone child labor.

Child labor is not limited to the fashion industry. Wilmar, the palm oil business that owns Kellogg's, Colgate, and Nestlé, was recently discovered to use palm oils produced by child laborers in Indonesia.

According to Amnesty International, the origin of some well-known items can be traced back to Wilmar, which allegedly puts children as young as 8 years old in risky jobs such as lifting large sacks weighing up to 25 kilos apiece.
