Traveling on vacation is enjoyable, but traveling for business may be exhausting and lonely. Here are some pointers to help you prepare for your next international conference.

Work while you're on the road. Purchase some noise-canceling headphones to help you block out background noise and concentrate on your task.

Avoid drinking and eat lightly. Choose nutritious foods and drink plenty of water to keep hydrated.

Prepare your itinerary. Choose a flight or train that does not need you to leave your house at 3 a.m. If this isn't an option, travel the night before.

If you're traveling alone, some hotels will put you in touch with other business travelers so you don't have to dine alone in a restaurant. Finally, get and carry a local newspaper; this will make you appear more local and less likely to be considered a tourist.
