Shopping for Christmas, birthdays, or unnecessary late-night purchases has never been easier. And a recent survey found that 76% of Americans now use their smartphones to shop online.
However, this is more common among those in the 30 to 49 age group, with up to 92% of them using their phones to make online purchases. More than half of those surveyed stated they preferred shopping in a physical store to doing it online, so this doesn't mean that conventional stores are gone. All of this information came from a Pew Research Center report. It surveyed about 6,000 US individuals in July 2022 about their online shopping habits. According to Pew's survey, 69% of individuals have used a computer to make a purchase, but only 28% have used a tablet. 32 percent of respondents claimed to make at least one phone-based internet purchase every week. Nearly half of those surveyed between the ages of 30 and 49 agreed with this, whereas just 11% of those over 65 did.
How we shop as well as the method that businesses advertise has changed over time. According to reports, companies now pay influencers billions of dollars to promote their goods. They might be getting a return on their investment, going on the survey results. 39% of social media users claimed that influencers have some bearing on their purchasing decisions. 57% of adult women under the age of 29 claimed that influencers had little or no influence on their purchasing decisions, and 5% said that they had a significant impact.
