To Start-up or Not?

מאמר באנגלית לתרגול קריאה. כולל 5 מילים חדשות עם תרגום לעברית, 3 שאלות הבנת הנקרא, 5 שאלות לשיחה. מתאים למתחילים.

A start-up is a new business that has just been started. Starting a new firm is challenging, and start-ups are extremely susceptible in the business world when competing with larger established organizations.

New enterprises are frequently launched from a bedroom or home office. Mark Zuckerberg founded Facebook in his Harvard dorm room. Apple was founded in Steve Jobs' father's garage.

Funding for a startup business is tough to come by. Some utilize a crowd-funding site, such as Kickstarter, in which many individuals invest or give a modest sum of money.

In the first five years, 50% of new enterprises fail. 25% of businesses will fail during the first year. The most important reason is that they provide a product or service that customers do not desire. Financial fraud and a lack of managerial skills are two further grounds for failure.

But what about those who are successful? Uber was founded in 2009 and is now valued at $62.5 billion.
