Snowy mountain resorts around the world will soon offer a brand-new, electric way of mountain adventure. Imagine a combination of a motorcycle and a snowmobile; that's how french-made MoonBikes are described as the world's first all-electric snow bikes. The MoonBikes website states that they can reach speeds of over 42 kilometers per hour and cost about $9,500.

While visiting a small town called Saint Nicolas de Véroce in the French Alps, MoonBikes CEO Nicolas Muron, came up with the concept for the snow bikes. He saw that traveling in the snow was challenging. Being an engineer, he decided to create a small, quiet vehicle that could go through the snow with ease. The MoonBikes have a 1.5-hour battery life, though you may alternatively choose one with a dual battery to increase that. Each MoonBike measures just over 71 centimeters in width and weighs about 87 kilograms with a normal battery. Due to its lighter weight than the typical snowmobile, which weighs about 215 kilograms without gas, a snow bike is easier to bring up a mountain. Even one of the company's vehicles is displayed being mounted on a car's back like a bicycle on the MoonBikes website.

According to Euronews, Austria's Kaunertal Glacier ski resort recently hosted a MoonBike test by tourism experts. And now, four ski resorts in the Tyrol region of the Austrian Alps will offer the bikes for rent. However, everyone can enjoy riding these electric bikes to explore the mountains, not just tourists in Austria. Additionally, ski resorts and campgrounds in France, Andorra, and Sweden, as well as several locations in North America, provide MoonBikes.
