Learning to say “NO”

מאמר באנגלית לתרגול קריאה. כולל 5 מילים חדשות עם תרגום לעברית, 3 שאלות הבנת הנקרא, 5 שאלות לשיחה. מתאים למתקדמים.

Read the article below.

One of the most important things you can learn to do in the corporate world is to learn how to say no. Refusing a request or turning down an opportunity, especially when it comes from a boss or coworker, can be difficult. Saying yes to too many things, however, can lead to fatigue, stress, and a decrease in productivity.

People have a hard time saying no because they worry about how others will see them. However, one's refusal to do anything does not automatically label them as uninterested in helping the team succeed. However, long-term success is impossible without first mastering the skills of prioritization and time management.

Saying no can be challenging because of the desire to avoid confrontation or adverse consequences. The short-term benefit of avoiding confrontation may seem worth the long-term costs of anger, irritation, and low morale.

One's priorities and goals must be clear before one can master the art of saying no. This might be useful for figuring out whether or not a certain opportunity will help one reach their goals. It's also important to put across one's arguments properly and courteously, recognizing the request and expressing gratitude for the chance.

Learning to say no is ultimately about establishing limits and being efficient with one's time and energy. It's a useful ability that can help you do more at work, feel happier doing it, and advance in your chosen field.
